Ermai falls –The mesmerizing falls amidst Western Ghats !

Ermai falls, it is one of the majestic waterfalls found in the Western Ghats of Karnataka. The milky gushing waterfalls from a great height and penetrating into the rocky terrain creates a beautiful huge pond beneath in the dense forest with beautiful fauna and flora.

It is located 15 km from the Ujire town of Belthangady taluk located at the foothills of the Ballarayana Durga range of the Western Ghats, covered with lush green foliage.

One can reach this spot en route after trekking for 1.5 km, walking in the narrow passage one will come across the forest with fresh sparkling water streams on one side and beautiful Areca plantation with the sweet smell of Areca flower(Pingara/Hingara) on the other side.

Even though one can hear the mesmerizing sound of water gushing down from a distance, the waterfalls can be seen when one gets to the final point.

Visitor can enjoy dipping in the chilled water in the pond approx.. 5 ft deep , apart from this it is a great spot sitting behind the waterfall  and clicking the great moments of the picnic.

It is multi-level waterfalls, this stream is having two more waterfalls from above,  one  can reach the spot with little difficulty.

Nearby there is a beautiful Dargah- “Kajooru Dargah sharif ”  it is the holiest place for the Beary Muslim community, yearly once there will be a Uroos in celebration.

Tips:

  • Consumption of Alcohol near the waterfalls or the surrounding area is strictly prohibited.
  • Kindly pack the food items if required as there are no Hotels/Restaurants near it.
  • The Rocks are sharp and slippery at the waterfalls, so please take care.
